College Baseball Time

It is finally the start of Division I college baseball and the journey to Omaha has begun.  UCLA and TCU come into the season ranked number one and number two in the USA today poll, with reigning National Champion South Carolina ranked number eight.  It should be an interesting season full of exciting story lines. On opening day, Florida International shortstop Garrett Witteles had the chance to come one game closer to breaking Robin Ventura's 58-game hit streak, but failed to get a hit.  Also, this will be the first time in over fifty years the season won't end in historic Rosenblatt Stadium.  Instead the College World Series, will be played TD America Trade Park, in Omaha, Nebraska.
Continue to check back on my blog as I continue to follow the 2011 College Baseball Season.

  1. Why is the College World Series switching venues? I always thought the highlight of the season was to go to Rosenblatt Stadium and become national champion.

  2. During last year's world series they were saying that Rosenblatt was just too old. They wanted to add more seating and bigger locker-rooms for the players. I know I am disappointed they are leaving Rosenblatt I think it helped make the College World Series what it was! Personally I enjoy watching games at older stadiums with history compared to the newer fancier stadiums.
